Karlshorst (meaning Karls nest in german) was built in 1895 as the Carlshorst mansion.
In 1945 the Russians established their headquarters at the Karlshorst Building. From 1945 - 1949 the buliding served as the headquarters of the , Soviet Military Administration based in Germany. The last russian soldiers vacated Karlshorst in 1994.
This place is now partly converted into a museum..... mass parts of the complex are still disused and wasting away. Here are some images of the derelict parts. |
